Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) compliance and verification

Deloitte experience and expertise in GIPS engagements

Our distinctive GIPS approach

Our three-step approach is designed to assist our client throughout the procedure that must be followed to become GIPS compliant.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis process is tailored to each manager. Working closely with your teams, we can help you define the scope covered:

  • to ensure it accurately reflects the organisation
  • and to ensure that it can withstand future developments

Through investigation, interviews and documentation review, we can perform a gap analysis and provide you with proposals covering organisational, technical and operational issues.

We also provide insights regarding the use of the report (marketing plan).

Implementation

Usually, a project manager is responsible for monitoring the implementation project to ensure smooth and efficient results.

This phase is an opportunity to finalise the procedures manual which:

  • presents rules and the approach adopted to comply with the standards
  • identifies and describes the procedures for maintenance and supply databases

Data collection and handling is also performed before actual performance calculation, including all controls described in the procedures manual.

Verification

Global Investment Performance Standards certification is a natural step forward and a confirmation of the quality for your RFPs.

Deloitte believes that certification offers the opportunity to bring significant added value to an organisation by sharing its experience and issuing constructive recommendations.

Our certification approach is based on our global audit methodology, which has been tailored to this activity. A detailed framework has been adopted and refined based on specific local features applicable since the standards were introduced.

For all subjects (firm, composite quality of the data and reporting), our certification process consists of three phases: examination, surveys, and synthesis. Performed prior to the audit work, the examination phase aims to identify potential errors.

The survey part is at the core of our approach, covering compliance, consistency and durability.

The certificate is delivered in electronic format (pdf, CD-ROM) to ensure broad distribution and impact on your current and prospective clients.
