Investing With A Purpose_3

About this blog:

Welcome to our investing and trading blog! We created this blog on 22 nd December 2014 for two main purposes. First, this blog serves as our investing and trading diary, recording every investment and trade we make, and the rationale behind what we did. Second, we hope that through the comments section, this blog would become a platform for likeminded investors and traders to share ideas and give their opinion on whatever we write so that we can all learn from each other. After all, investing and trading is a never-ending learning process.

In this blog, we will be sharing on anything related to investing and trading – company analysis and valuation, trade setups, macroeconomic trend analysis, etc. We hope that both veterans and beginners would find our blog useful and helpful, and hopefully gain new insights in the investing and trading arena.

While you do not need any finance background to understand this blog, some fundamental understanding of investing and trading is necessary to understand what we write here. For the investment section, you should know how to interpret a company’s financial statements and how to calculate basic financial ratios such as P/E and P/B. For the trading section, you should know how to read Japanese candle stick charts and be able to identify support and resistance levels from a price chart.

We understand that not all investors are interested in trading, and not all traders are interested in investing. Hence, we have organised this blog in such a way that you can reach each section independently of the other. Likewise, we think it is essential that you use separate accounts for trading and investing to avoid clouding your investing decision and trading decisions.

Our investment and trading objective:

To us, investing and trading should be as hands-free and passive as possible. We believe that if done properly and consistently, the passive income generated from our investing and trading portfolios would allow us to achieve financial freedom well before we retire.

Most people spend their entire live working for money, but when they finally made enough, they are too old to enjoy the fruits of their labour. We think differently: we want to make our money work for us so we can have time doing the things we enjoy.

About the authors:

This blog is authored and administered by Jeffrey Ang and Jiang Feimiao. We are both students of the National University of Singapore Business School majoring in accountancy. Our investing journey began similarly, during our army days when we read investment classics such as The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham.

Recently, in 2Q 2014, we ventured into the foreign exchange market to take advantage of the macroeconomic developments in the world’s major economies (namely USA, Japan and the Euro zone).
