Marc Chaikin of Chaikin Analytics headlined the Ivy Family Office Network Philadelphia Forum with a discussion on “Portfolio Allocations. The Forum was held on May 9th in Philadelphia, PA.
According to Mr. Chaikin, “Some big issues with today’s market is that portfolio managers re-balance more frequently and are looking for more integrated capabilities. So the question is, how do you actively manage a portfolio that requires more frequent re-balancing as well as the need to manage more instruments of varying liquidity while maintaining the capability and flexibility to take advantage of different opportunities.
He continued, “For family offices there is an extra complexity that in many cases, family office founders may have less technical fluidity than their next generation. This generational drift can be limited when there are group capabilities to review all portfolio elements all the way through to sub advisor relationships. Research on Ultra High Net Worths shows that 40% don’t use outside advisors and an additional 40% are willing to manage their portfolios themselves when the right capabilities are available.
Other speakers on the panel included Ed Stavetski of Whitford Holdings, Scott Renninger of Independence Asset Advisors, and Paul Milnes of Outsourced Financial Analytics.
After 40 years on Wall Street as a trader, broker, and analyst, Marc Chaikin founded Chaikin Analytics in 2009 to deliver proprietary stock analytics to professional money managers and investors. The centerpiece of Chaikin Analytics is the Chaikin Power Gauge, a 20-factor alpha model, back-tested on ten years of data and proven quite accurate at identifying a stock’s potential over the next 3-6 months. The Chaikin Money Flow and Chaikin Oscillator indicators are industry standards, found on most every trading platform in the world.
Combined with a small number of technical indicators in an easy to read graphical format, and delivered through an intuitive iPad application, Chaikin Analytics is on the leading edge of actionable research for investors.
The proprietary analytics are built by the same team that pioneered the first real-time analytics workstation for institutional money managers and trading desks, led by Marc Chaikin.
