When looking to upgrade a house or work on one to flip it, every investor or contractor will need a few essential supplies. Not only will you have the right tools and equipment to get the job done, but by having the following on-hand you will save time, money, and stay safe. Here are five must-haves for any real estate investor flipping houses or the average homeowner undertaking a major renovation.

If you want to paint a house or use any chemicals to treat wood, you will want to use rubber gloves, a particle mask, and a Tyvek suit. When wearing one, not only can you protect your clothing, but you will protect your skin as well. If you are working on a renovation project, you dont want to make contact with substance such as lead paint, toxic solvents, or asbestos. With a Tyvek suit, you can protect yourself and knock out the job without worry.

Believe it or not, many city dwellers think they can do the running around you need to do by car when fixing up a place. While it sounds like an economical idea, its a bad one that will cost you plenty of money and extra time. Whether you need to head to the local home improvement store to get lumber or run to the dump to drop off demo materials, it will be much easier if you use a pickup truck. You dont need anything large but purchasing a small truck as a second vehicle, renting one for a few days, or having a friend you can call on to borrow one will go a long way to save you time and headaches when you need to haul materials or pull a small trailer.

The Right Clothes, Including Boots

When renovating or flipping a home yourself, you are going to end up on the ground, crawling in and out of weird, tight spaces. You dont want to scuff your everyday shoes or staining your regular pants as you work, especially if youre pulling double duty as a realtor, lining up buyers for the property. You will need to buy some good work boots and some old clothes to have handy for when you need to get to work on the property.

Eye Protection

If you are going to weld, grind, or sand, you will need eye protection. The same can be said if you are going to work with a saw as you dont want wood dust or chips getting into your eyes. While this may be an necessary investment, dont purchase cheap eye protection. Be sure to get high quality eye protection and go all out when it comes to amount of coverage and impact resistance, as you dont want to end up with any damage to your eyes.

Finally, if you are on the road and going to and from the job site, you will want a tool box. Having something that is large enough to hold all of the tools you use on a regular basis and maybe some basic hardware, you can complete your day-to-day tasks more efficiently because you are organized. Without an adequate tool box, you are going to struggle and waste time locating the tools you need to get the job done.

With these five must-have items, a flipper or DIY homeowner can complete their tasks quickly or ahead of schedule. Remember, when flipping homes, invest in great tools; it will pay dividends down the road.
