Post on: 2 Июнь, 2015 No Comment
How much time do you spend checking your Facebook each day?
What about email?
Watching TV? Movies?
Hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock?
Im not judging these are all important parts of living, and I dont plan to change them at all. I do recognize that all those little distractions tend to add up and before I know it, my day is gone.
In 2015, I am committed to taking my real estate business further than I ever have before, and for me (and hopefully YOU), a large part of that can be done on BiggerPockets. This blog post is not just about BiggerPockets and growing our businesses. Its about YOU. Nothing in this list requires a Pro membership, and its all 100% free to do so you have no excuse for not rocketing your business forward every single day.
By spending just 8 minutes per day on BiggerPockets, youll be able to learn more, connect more, and grow further and faster than you ever imagined possible.
Here are 3 different ways you can improve your business each one takes less than 8 minutes.
3 Simple (and Free) Ways to Improve Your Real Estate Investing in Just 8 Minutes a Day
1. Get Your Questions Answered
Look, Ive been investing in real estate for a long time. Ive been through thousands of situations and problems and successes yet almost every day I am presented with a new challenge in my business. Thats why I LOVE the BiggerPockets Forums .
You see, real estate books are amazing for learning new ideas, strategies, tips, etc. The BiggerPockets Podcast is great for hearing stories of people who have found incredible success. These, however, are one directional learning methods. You can hear, but you cant respond. You can read, but you cant write.
The BiggerPockets Forums are different. When you have an issue, you can ask others who have been in the situation for advice, no matter how experienced you are.
For example, a few months back I had a tenant who allegedly started a fire on her deck where she smoked every day. She claimed, though, that the fire was not her fault, and it must have been someone else who started it because it was a shared deck at a multifamily property. (Never mind the fact that she openly smoked out there daily and would put her cigarette butts out by tossing them into old cardboard boxes.) So obviously she is guilty but what should I do? Evict her over it? Send it to collections?
This is when the Forums come in really handy. I posted the question up and within minutes began to get some really great advice from members of the Forums, which helped me proceed.
(We evicted her!)
Do your business a favor and commit to spending a few minutes every day on the Forums engaging in the conversations that happen there.
Remember, you are the average of the five people you associate with the most, so let the inspiring members on the BiggerPockets Forum be on that list of five.
2. Make a New Connection
Real estate is a people business, and its tough to have a people business without other people.
Therefore, one of the easiest things you can do on a daily business is connect with someone who could change your business and life forever.
But who should you connect with?
I recommend scanning the Forums and looking for individuals who excel at what they do: People who answer questions about the things you care about. People who seem genuine. People who are real.
Then simply send a colleague request and introduce yourself to them! This takes just a few moments each day and by adding one new colleague a day, by the end of 2015 you might have 365 new colleagues to network with and potentially grow your business alongside.
3. Expand Your Mind Through the Blog(s)
Congrats! You are already doing this one sorta.
Reading posts on the BiggerPockets Blog is an incredible way to learn new perspectives on old trends, old perspectives on new trends, and everything in between. With dozens of volunteer writers contributing amazing content each week, you are bound to learn new things every time you click to read a new post.
Id also encourage you to read some of the BiggerPockets Member Blogs that are posted each day at BiggerPockets.com/blog, and maybe even start your own. The Member Blog area is open to anyone who wants a platform to talk about their business, no matter their level of experience. You can get set up in just moments and begin telling your story, sharing a recent lesson you learned, writing down your goals in a public place so youll be more likely to fight for them or share whatever else is on your mind and heart.
Take 8 minutes today and check out the Member Blogs on BiggerPockets.
Conclusion
Each of the above tasks can be done in just 8 minutes or less per day. We both know that you spend more time on more things that matter far less!
By taking small actions daily, you will be able to move your business forward each and every day of next year and beyond.
Just remember this:
Small actions, taken daily, breed incredible success. (Tweet This! )
Before I go, let me end this post the way I always do.
