Over the last few months, there has been considerable media comment about the government’s proposed changes to the Future of Financial Advice (FOFA) legislation introduced by the previous government. One thing that is not changing is our Matrix Financial Advisers’ approach to ensuring your best interests is served.
There are four key obligations under the Best Interests Duty:
- Acting in the best interest. A Financial Adviser must act in the best interests of the client.
When you come to seek advice from a Matrix Financial Adviser, you can be assured that he or she will:
- Partner with you to identify your objectives, financial situation and individual needs
- Identify and clarify with you exactly what advice you are seeking. This can be a voyage of discovery – as together, you may uncover some issues and opportunities of which you were unaware.
- Make reasonable enquiries to obtain complete and accurate information: this may involve providing information, completing a questionnaire and following up with current providers to ensure we have accurate and comprehensive information.
- Ensure that we are a “good fit” – or provide you with some suggestions in regard to alternative assistance. Managing your finances is important. You want to work on this with somebody who has the relevant expertise and with whom you are comfortable. It’s worth taking the time to find the “right” Financial Adviser for you.
- We will undertake research to identify relevant products and provide you with information regarding alternatives. There are many courses of action that might be appropriate for you: some of these options may include risk, superannuation and investment products. We’ll do the research, read the fine print and provide you with our suggestions as to products that best suit your individual requirements.
- We will provide you with our recommendations of the best course of action for you in your circumstances – and give you time to reflect, ask questions and form your own conclusions.
- We will offer you an on-going service so that we can continue to support you as you work toward achieving your financial objectives.
If you’re seeking a Financial Adviser who will take the time and do the work to find out what you need, and someone who will work with you to plan your pathway to success, why not give a Matrix Financial Adviser a call?
The advice is general in nature only and does not take into consideration your financial situation, goals and objectives. Please seek advice prior to acting on this information.
