Buying small gold bars

If you are going to buy small gold there are a few things that you can ask yourself to get you going in the right direction. First what am I buying for, is it for a gift, if so, will it be used for jewelry, such as in a bezel for a necklace. If this is the route you want to take first think of the type of build the person has will they look better with a petite 1 gram gold bar around their neck or will a hefty 20 grams better suite this person. Does the bar I am purchasing come with a bezel already attached or will I need to purchase one seperate?
If you plan on just giving the bar itself as a gift think about the person you are giving it to, this may be the greatest gift YOU would like to receive but will this person really appreciate something like this. I have gotten some of the strangest looks from people when I tell them how much I have spent on these tiny little bars. Some people just dont get it.
If you plan on purchasing for your personal collection, first think about storage. Say you want a troy ouce of gold would you rather keep up with say, some thirty one gram bars or three ten gram bars or maybe you just want one one ounce bar. Maybe you would like to spread it around, but know this, if you are going to buy one gram bars, they are very small and can be misplaced easily.
Which brand bars are better quality? If you polled a hundred people and asked them which minter mints a superior bar? I am almost positive you would get a equal amount of positive responses for each of them. There are many mints that make these small bars in and outside of america. Some buyers prefer american made bars, some like suisse. some prefer istanbul gold others like german. The truth is all of these minters make a great product with the same amount of gold in them. Most have the purity stamped right there on the front or back of the bar. Some will be 99.99 percent pure others may say .9999 then there are also some that are .9995 minters will add a small amount of a different base metal to strengthen the bars.
If you are going to purchase the bars to resale them in the future then it may be a good idea to purchase bars that include an assayers, or certificate of authenticity with them. This tells you and the person you are going to sell to you that this is indeed a real bar and what the purity is. Alot of people will not buy gold unless this is included.
Many great deals can be found on ebay but finding the right seller can be just as important as the right product. You may find that a seller with a feedback score of 1000 products are more expensive than someone with a feedback score of 10. The reason for this is simple, the seller with the higher feedback has built up a positive seller reputation. People feel that they can trust someone more who has made more positive transactions. Alot of times this is true but someone with a low feedback score does not necessarily make them a dishonest seller. They may have received retalitory feedback from an angry buyer, or they may just be getting their feet wet with ebay and have just started selling. The best thing to do is to do your homework on a seller. Look closely at the feedback that has been not only left for them but the feedback that they have also left for others. Ask questions and be thorough most reputable sellers will not have a problem answering as many questions that you may have, if they are trying to build a good reputation on ebay than customer service will be their first priority.
With the price of metals fluctuating so much it is hard to say exactly when to buy. Many things can affect the market price of gold the biggest being supply and demand, meaning if the supply of gold from refiners can keep up with the demand of countrys. The best thing to do is look at the history of gold, many websites will have charts that have the history of gold, some go back as far as thirty years, be aware of the price of gold around the time you plan on buying and if there is a dip in the price then go for it. Buying one day when the price has fallen a few dollars can get you a great deal.
From personal experience I have found that the best times and days to buy gold on ebay is on the weekends and late at night to the early morning. The weekend, you may ask, but everyone is usually off work and home on the weekends? This is true thay are of work, but they have just spent a whole week at the office, many, a whole week at a office in front of a computer, when they get off on the weekend the last thing they want to see is a computer. I have spoken to many other buyers and they have all confirmed that these are the best times to buy, along with the sellers telling me this is time when they receive the least amount of bids.
Also check the buy it now feature alot of people search only for auctions and alot of items that can only be purchased with buy it now get overlooked.
I hope this guide has been even in the littlest bit helpful. I want everyones experience on ebay to be a pleasurable one and have have found alot of pleasure in buying and selling gold and passing my experience on to others. If you have read this far I want to thank you for taking time out of your day to read my guide, please vote if it was helpful. Thanks have a great day and god bless!!
