Job description
BlackRock is looking for a quantitatively-oriented analyst to work closely with the CoRI product team within the Defined Contribution (DC) group. The Analyst is responsible for supporting the suite of CoRI products (CoRI Retirement Indexes, investment vehicles and associated tools) while ensuring our internal distribution and platform teams and external clients and prospects are serviced at the highest level.
The Analyst works closely with the CoRI investment strategists and sales team to provide investment insight and analysis on our CoRI products to relationship managers, the consultant group and the advisor and platform channels. Another important part of the role involves coordinating closely with the defined contribution research and portfolio management teams to evolve the existing CoRI product set, while also conducting customized one-off analysis/presentations for strategic clients and partners. In addition to helping support the sales and strategy efforts, the Analyst will also help support the operational efforts of the team as they continue to evolve CoRI in support of BlackRock’s larger retirement strategy.
Responsibilities
- Field, respond to, and accommodate day-to-day internal/external client and other ad hoc requests regarding our CoRI offerings.
- Update, coordinate and structure presentation materials for our CoRI strategies and ensure alignment with broader DC/Retirement themes.
- Acquisition of financial and economic data and effective presentation of analysis in both visual and written formats. Ability to conduct said analysis using spreadsheets and/or statistical software is a plus.
- Learn and excel in using BlackRock’s proprietary systems to gather information about products, fund vehicles, client holdings and other critical information.
- Conduct internal meetings with project teams and help track/manage resolution to any open issues.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Expand knowledge about products, services, investments, and pension fund issues, with a motivation to become a trusted advisor on retirement investing, trends, and client needs.
- Attend some internal and external client meetings in house.
Skills & Qualifications
- Has a BA/BS degree in related field (Economics, Finance or Accounting).
- Has 1-2 years of directly related experience
- Excellent analytic, problem solving, and productivity skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills that enable complex ideas to be readily understood by others
- Has a high level of self-motivation, with strong integrity and ethics, and a demonstrated maturity and judgment in dealing with a broad range of clients
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong time and project management skills
- Has high proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for learning new applications
- Experience with linear algebra, probability and statistics is preferred
- Experience with MATLAB, R, VBA, Java, C?C++ or databases would be a plus
- Has, or is willing to obtain, the series 7 & 63 licenses
- Effective team player; able to work with people of all levels and thrive in a fast-pace environment
