Chicago Introduction to Managed Futures Seminar Chicago Economy

This event offers a basic understanding and exposure to the managed futures industry within alternative investments by discussing various aspects and terminology of this asset class.

Managed Futures includes commodity futures, financial futures and foreign exchange. It is one of the fastest growing asset classes as it has existed for over 30 years and yet the investment management community is just beginning to understand it.

The Security Traders Association (STA) is the leading trade organization for individual professionals in the securities industry that works to improve the ethics, business standards and working environment for its members. The Chicago affiliate (STAC) is comprised of 600+ professional trade industry members who are engaged in the buying, selling and trading of securities.

Mark Shore is a faculty member at the New York Institute of Finance specializing in alternative investments, commodities, manager and trading model due diligence, asset allocation, portfolio construction and risk management.

His 20+ years of experience covers financial and commodity futures, quantitative/qualitative analysis including: developing systematic trading models, due diligence platforms of trading models and managers, asset allocation and a focus on managed futures and global macro strategies.

Prior to his current consulting work regarding alternative investment research, due diligence and business development, Mark Shore held senior management positions at Morgan Stanley’s $250 million AUM Commodity Trading Advisor VK Capital Inc and Octane Research Inc ($1 billion AUM). At VK Capital he managed the research, due diligence of trading models, business development, published research and strategic development of the business unit. At Octane Research, Inc. he was responsible for quantitative risk management, due diligence of fund of funds and a member of the investment committee. He developed the S-ratio.

Mark Shore is licensed with the NFA and the CFTC and is an Adjunct Professor at the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University in Chicago.
