Keep your money liquid while earning interest. Our money market funds are designed for income, stability, and convenient access to your money. Schwab offers a variety of taxable and tax-free funds for you to choose from. Sweep money market funds are also available for those who qualify.
Money Market Funds
Schwab’s purchased money market funds are designed for both short-term investment and longer-term cash investing needs. A convenient way to produce income, they generally provide higher yields than sweep money market funds. Features include:
- Stable capital objective
- A choice of funds that offer taxable or tax-free income
- Low initial investments starting at $2,500
Sweep Money Market Funds and Other Cash Features
Schwab’s cash features enable you to earn income on uninvested cash, or free credit balance, in your brokerage account:
- The Schwab One® Interest feature pays you interest on cash awaiting investment.
- If you have $500,000 or more in household assets, you can choose a sweep money market fund that automatically invests in and redeems funds from a money market mutual fund.
- The Schwab Bank sweep feature 1 automatically makes deposits to and withdrawals from deposit accounts at Charles Schwab Bank, an FDIC-insured depository institution affiliated with Schwab.
Schwab Money Market Funds
Schwab’s money market funds invest exclusively in dollar-denominated, high-quality, short-term instruments, including but not limited to securities issued by the federal government, corporations, municipalities, and banks.
Here are some of the benefits of Schwab money market funds:
- Money market funds are considered less volatile than individual stocks or stock funds, and can help reduce your portfolio’s overall volatility.
- They are designed for next-business-day liquidity and are actively bought and sold like other mutual funds.
- There are no fees for buying or selling.
- They can provide either taxable or tax-free income.
Sweep Money Market Funds
Schwab’s sweep money market funds automatically invest your brokerage account’s uninvested cash in a sweep money market fund at the end of each business day. If you have $500,000 or more in household assets, you may request a sweep fund through your Schwab Financial Consultant.
