BankMed Treasury Balance Sheet Interest Rate Foreign Exchange Money Market

Bankmed Treasury manages the Banks balance sheet and related interest rate and foreign exchange exposures and cash flows. The Treasury is currently divided into 4 different Desks, each focusing on specific activities: The Money Market desk, the Foreign Exchange desk, the Capital Markets desk, and the Treasury Marketing Unit. As an active player in the interbank market, the Treasury deals in the foreign exchange and money markets and participates actively in all Central Bank operations, including primary market auctions.

The main products traded on the Foreign Exchange desk include Spot and Outright Purchases/Sales as well as FX Swaps while the Money Market Desk deals primarily in Repos, interbank placements and investments in highly rated securities. The Capital Markets Desk is active in the local market with trading capabilities in all outstanding local issues in both local currency and foreign currencies. The Desk also actively trades on both the Beirut and Amman Stock Exchanges. The Treasury Marketing Unit (TMU) that was recently set-up focuses on client flows and exposures and offers tailor-made solutions and products to the Clients of Bankmed to cater for specific customer requirements and provide alternative investment strategies.
