Equity Derivatives Valuation Controller
The role exists within the Global Equities Valuation Control group, based in London. The primary responsibilities of the group are to
• independently verify the valuation of the Bank’s equity derivative and other trading portfolios
• independently verify the valuation of the Bank’s collateral positions
• ensure that adequate provisions are booked to cover primary and consequential risks
• report on the accuracy of reserves and valuations to senior management
• develop improved testing and analysis processes, based on understanding of the business and positions
• ensure global consistency between regional control groups, and collate, review, and report upon their results
• interpret the impact of accounting policy changes on the Equties portfolio and monitor compliance with accounting policies
The controller will be responsible for testing involving a variety of portfolios comprising of cash equities, vanilla and exotic options, swaps, ETD’s, convertible bonds and a wide variety of structured products. They will also be integral in the identification and resolution of global valuation related issues ranging from those originating within the organisation and from external regulatory bodies.
The individual will be expected to build strong working relationships with all key areas within the organisation, including the trading desks, market risk, quantitative risk, trade support and business unit controllers. All valuation controllers are expected to be proactive, take ownership of issues and work in a dynamic and often unsupervised environment which requires the ability to work independently and within the group. Outgoing, confident personality, with exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to identify & manage risks effectively.
Maths, physics, or engineering based degree or strong analytical skills demonstrated by maths / science based A’levels an advantage.
ACACIMA qualification or equivalent preferred but not essential.
Aptitude for computing applications, including Excel, VBA and Access would be an advantage
