The Global Financial Database is a collection of financial and economic data provided in ASCII or Excel format. There are 20,000 historical or current data series which may be downloaded directly from the web site. Global coverage includes stocks, bonds, treasury bills, interest rates, commodity prices, CPI, GDP, exchange rates, indexes, population and more.Choose Login Anonymously for library access.

Stock prices going back to the 1970s may be available on this site. Historical data for the stock high, low, close price is comparable to what you would find in a newpaper on the same date — with the adjusted (for stock splits) close data in the column on the far right.

Begin by doing a search using the company ticker symbol. Then choose Historical Prices from the blue bar on the left.

Choose start and end date. Choose whether you need daily, weekly, or monthly data. Add ticker symbol and click on Get Prices. Data is from CSI Commodity Systems Inc. Disclaimers and FAQ appear at the bottom of the page.

There are multiple-language search interfaces and multilingual content that cover 9,000 sources from 152 countries in 22 languages. Background and financial information is provided on 25,000 publically traded companies and along with market data on equities, funds, and indices. Search the full-text of the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Economist, Business Week, and most major magazines and newspapers.

Daily Stock Price Record

Since the early 1960’s Standard & Poor’s Daily stock price record has been the most convenient printed guide to retrospective stock prices. It is published in three editions. One each for the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the American Stock Exchange (ASE), and the NASDAQ market. All NYSE and ASE as well as about 5,700 NASDAQ firms are listed. The NASDAQ volumes are divided into three parts, covering mutual funds, banks and insurance companies, and all other firms. Otherwise, the listings are alphabetical by company name. Every volume provides daily quotes for the entire quarter, with all the prices for a company displayed on one page. The library holds this publication since 1962 for NYSE, 1964 for ASE, and 1968 for NASDAQ (formerly OTC). Each new quarterly volume is received approximately three months after the quarter concludes. Bloomberg

Financial database that features stock prices and other financial statistics. Bloomberg is available in the Graduate Computer Lab L112 in the Carlson School of Management. Other library users who are not eligible to use the Carlson School graduate lab will not have access to Bloomberg through the U of Minnesota.
